How To Make Nutritious Homemade Dog Treats

Making Homemade Dog Treats

You can make homemade dog treats just like you can make homemade dog food – and the benefit is that you will know exactly what is going into your pet’s treats and dog food. You can make sure that your dog is not consuming products that are filled with byproducts that are perhaps indigestible and allergen causing – and you can also not spend a fortune making these treats at home! It doesn’t hurt to try them at least once and decide if the time ratio to satisfaction ratio is equitable – both for pet owner and pet!

2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup peanut butter
2 medium eggs (or shy 1/2 cup egg substitute if egg allergy is an issue)
1/2 cup water
1/2 lb raw liver, pureed in blender or extremely small dice

Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Blend the flour, peanut butter, eggs, and water together.
Add the diced liver and more flour to make the dough stiff.

Place the dough on a floured counter and roll out to about 1 inch thick.

Cut into shapes with cookie cutters (or just make flattened balls) and place on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until the treats are brown and crisp.

Cool on rack. Store in airtight container.
