Make Windows XP Shutdown Faster

Step 1. First of all press ALT + R and then type “regedit” and hit Ok

Step 2. In the Registry Editor navigate to HKEY_Current_User > Control Panel > Desktop and scroll down and find HungAppTimeOut and change the default value from 5000 to 1000 and then hit OK.

Step 3. Search for WaitToKillAppTimeOut and change its value from 20000 to 1000 and then click Ok.

Do not close the registry editor as we have to change three more values.

Step 4. Again navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE System CurrentControlSet Control then look for WaitToKillAppTimeOut and change its value to 1000 and hit Ok

Step 5. Lastly Navigate to HKEY_Users_Default > Control Panel > Desktop and change HungAppTimeOut value to 1000 and Hit OK

Step 6. Again look for WaitToKillAppTimeOut and likewise before we need to change its value to 1000 and Hit Ok.

In the above tweaks we are changing the values so that Windows can kill apps faster than before and shutdown faster.

Note: This trick may work on Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8

Hope I helped and your Windows should shutdown faster than before.
