Best Burger Recipes: Gorgonzola Cheese Burger Recipe
Some of the best burger recipes are those made with cheese. Instead of a traditional cheeseburger, you end up with a burger using different kinds of cheeses when they are put together. The taste can turn an ordinary burger into a WOW burger!

Recipe for Burgers with Gorgonzola Cheese
INGREDIENTS
1 pound leanest ground beef
1/8 cup crumbled Gorgonzola cheese
1/4 cup chopped fresh spinach
1/4 cup chopped kalamata olives
Salt and pepper to taste
METHOD
Use thawed ground meat.
Combine all the ingredients.
Form patties of desired size.
Grill, broil or fry to desired doneness.
VARIATIONS ON A BURGER
As you can imagine, there are many different additions and substitutions that you can do to this recipe and here are just some of the ways I’ve revamped the recipe.
MEAT SUBSTITUTIONS
Substitute ground chicken or ground turkey
Use ground salmon or other fish that holds together well
Substitute textured protein or veggie burger mix for the beef
Use goat meat
Substitute ground buffalo
Use ground deer meat or elk meat
CHEESE SUBSTITUTIONS
Use goat crumbled goat cheese
Substitute blue cheese
Use feta cheese
Try any other cheese that crumbles and will mix well
SPINACH SUBSTITUTIONS
Arugula
Chicory
Mustard Greens
Swiss chard
Kale
Dandelion greens
Collard greens
KALAMATA OLIVE SUBSTITUTIONS
Other Greek olives
Spanish olives
Mission olives (though these have relatively little taste)

Gorgonzola Burger Turned Meatloaf
INGREDIENTS
1 pound leanest ground beef (thawed)
1/8 cup crumbled Gorgonzola cheese
1/4 cup chopped fresh spinach
1/4 cup chopped kalamata olives
1 large beaten egg (or 1/4 cup egg substitute)
1 cup of bread crumbs, oatmeal or Panko crumbs
Dash of Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Use Greek yogurt to get mixture to desired consistency if more moisture needed
Chopped mushrooms for topping (optional)
1 medium-sized can stewed or diced tomatoes (optional)
METHOD
Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Spray a loaf pan 9 x 5 x 3 with cooking spray.
Combine all the ingredients.
Use a bit of Greek yogurt if mixture is too dry.
Pat mixture into loaf pan.
Bake as is or using a fork, grab out diced tomatoes from 1 medium sized can and arrange atop the meatloaf. Poke a few holes in the meatloaf randomly to let some of the juices drain into the meatloaf as it cooks.
TIP: Don’t pour the whole can over the meatloaf as it will turn out too soggy.
OR if you don’t happen to like tomatoes on your meatloaf, arrange fresh sliced mushrooms atop the meatloaf and drizzle with a bit of beef broth, vegetable broth or even a mixture of mushroom soup with milk to make a mushroom sauce topping.
Cover meatloaf with foil and bake in 350 degree oven for about 1 hour.
TIP: To conserve on energy, bake potatoes and acorn squash or butternut squash at the same time (wrapped in foil or in separate baking pan).

As you can see, there are many options with this simple recipe. Likewise, you can grill, broil or fry these burgers up on the grill outdoors, a George Foreman grill or even make them into mini burgers or sliders.
Have fun with the burger part of the recipe but for an interesting variation on traditional meatloaf, give the meatloaf recipe a try. I decided one night when it was pouring rain to just mix the ingredients together and see how they fared as a meatloaf and it was a delicious change to my usual recipes.
