You may have read my hubpage article “Upgrade your netbook with Ubuntu”, which explains how to install Ubuntu on a netbook. One of the things I like so much about Ubuntu is the fonts. They are different, easy to read, and lend to a “modern” look. Since I manage two blogs (TheThriftyNation and FreedomRedux), I was interested in applying these fonts to my blogs. What I will explain in this article is how to accomplish just that.

Let me start by saying that both of my blogs run on the WordPress format, so if you are using a different format (blogger, drupal…), I can’t give any advice on how to integrate these fonts into other platforms.

One of the things that makes WordPress such a popular format is the countless plugins available, and this task is no exception. I used the WP Google Fonts plugin, which is available free from the WordPress Plugin Directory. This plugin allows you to use not only the Ubuntu family of fonts, but any of the google fonts. I downloaded and activated the plugin, and then went to the settings tab for that plugin. From this point, it was just a matter of point and click to select the Ubuntu font. There are multiple font options, so you can select different fonts for different parts of the blog (for example, if you wanted your blog title or the titles of your posts to be a different font).
